Grey carpet can be incredibly versatile when used in a bedroom. Depending on how you style it, you can create several quite different looks. From cool minimalism to velvety warmth, take a look at these rooms for inspiration.
The mid-grey tone strikes the perfect halfway point between the white walls and darker grey upholstered bed. By keeping the palette this simple, it feels like a modern choice of flooring.
Warm it up with your wall colourIf you want to create a softer, warmer feel in a bedroom, try pairing light grey carpet with a soft taupe paint colour on the walls. In this room, the warmth of the wall colour, while still subtle, makes the space feel cosier and more inviting than crisp white or pale grey.

Choose a whiter shade of paleFor an area that doesn’t get a lot of footfall, such as a bedroom, you might be able to risk a lighter shade of grey for an elegant feel.
In a very pale room, one or two darker elements can help to anchor the scheme. Here, the rich wood bedside table and dark upholstered bed frame provide a pleasing visual contrast.
Filled with skylights and louvred windows, The Barefoot Villa’s design is all about letting in as much light as possible. Sheer curtains help create privacy without losing the natural light the team worked so hard to incorporate into the design.
Our Aesop range was the perfect choice for The Designory’s luxurious holiday home. The 50-50 linen-poly blend allows for a durable finish without compromising on the style and luxury that linen provides, while the choice of sheers in parchment create a perfect backdrop that works with design elements in every room.
Slim and subtle blockout roller blinds hide behind sheer curtains allowing for long holiday lie-ins without compromising on style. The Barefoot Villa combines Aesop sheer curtains in parchment and blockout blinds in natural from the Kew range.

This tranquil master bedroom suite includes a small seating area, beautiful views and an interior hallway to the master bathroom & closet.

A master bedroom with an ocean inspired, upscale hotel atmosphere. The soft blues, creams and dark woods give the impression of luxury and calm. Soft sheers on a rustic iron rod hang over woven grass shades and gently filter light into the room. Rich painted wood panel molding helps to anchor the space. A reading area adorns the bay window and the antique tray table offers a worn nautical motif. Brass fixtures and the rough hewn dresser remind one of the sea. Artwork and accessories also lend a coastal feeling.
Overview
Extension and complete refurbishment.
The Brief
The existing house had very shallow rooms with a need for more depth throughout the property by extending into the rear garden which is large and south facing. We were to look at extending to the rear and to the end of the property, where we had redundant garden space, to maximise the footprint and yield a series of WOW factor spaces maximising the value of the house.
The brief requested 4 bedrooms plus a luxurious guest space with separate access; large, open plan living spaces with large kitchen/entertaining area, utility and larder; family bathroom space and a high specification ensuite to two bedrooms. In addition, we were to create balconies overlooking a beautiful garden and design a ‘kerb appeal’ frontage facing the sought-after street location.
Buildings of this age lend themselves to use of natural materials like handmade tiles, good quality bricks and external insulation/render systems with timber windows. We specified high quality materials to achieve a highly desirable look which has become a hit on Houzz.
Our Solution
One of our specialisms is the refurbishment and extension of detached 1930’s properties.
Taking the existing small rooms and lack of relationship to a large garden we added a double height rear extension to both ends of the plan and a new garage annex with guest suite.
We wanted to create a view of, and route to the garden from the front door and a series of living spaces to meet our client’s needs. The front of the building needed a fresh approach to the ordinary palette of materials and we re-glazed throughout working closely with a great build team.
